Introduction

Dvaita Vedanta is a one of the famous philosophies in Indian Philosophy, introduced by the Sriman Madhwacharya. The philosophy has more than 40 sarvamoola Granthas written by the Sriman Madhwacharya. This Philosophy discusses the Sutra Prasthana, Upanishad Prasthana, Gita Prasthana, Itihasa Prasthana , Purana Prasthana, Tantra Sara and others. All the sarvamoola granthas have commentaries. Some commentaries written by the direct disciples of Sriman Madhwacharya,  Sri Padmanabha teertha, Sri Narahariteertha, and Sri Trivikrama Pandita are available.  Commentaries for  most of Sarvamoola granthas were written by Sri Jayateerthacharya (Tikakrutpada). All these commentaries once again have sub-commentaries written by Vyasateertha, Vadirajateertha, Vijayeendratirtha, Raghottamateertha, Sri Raghavendra Teertha’s etc. In this way the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy was developed.

This Major Philosophy was introduced for study by the National Sanskrit University, Tirupati in the year 1998. After that Sastri, Acharya, M.Phil and Ph.D classes showing good development.  The department has adopted the Choice Based Credit System at Post Graduate level.
